Full job description

A hotel waiter manages guest dining experiences across restaurants, room service, or banquets. Core duties involve greeting guests, taking precise food and drink orders, serving meals efficiently, maintaining table hygiene, and handling billing transactions to ensure high satisfaction standards. Set up tables: Clean and arrange linens, cutlery, glassware, and condiments (mise en place).
Review menus: Learn daily specials, ingredients, and allergy information.
Inspect station: Ensure side stations are stocked with clean napkins, trays, and silverware. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Guest Service & Interaction

Welcome guests: Greet patrons warmly, seat them, and hand out menus.
Take orders: Record food and beverage selections accurately via memory, pads, or a POS System.
Make recommendations: Suggest dishes, drinks, or wine pairings and upsell specials.
Communicate with kitchen: Relay special dietary needs or modifications to the culinary team. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Serving and Maintenance

Deliver items: Transport food and beverages safely and serve courses in the correct sequence.
Monitor tables: Check on guests during meals to clear empty plates (pre-bussing), refill water, and anticipate needs.

Closing and Payments

Process bills: Prepare, print, and present checks, handling cash or card payments.
