Backend Developer Intern

About the Role

Wexa.ai is looking for motivated Backend Developer Interns to join the Engineering team and work on CognoDB Cloud, our managed graph database platform.

As a Backend Intern, you will gain hands-on experience building APIs and backend services that support data handling, cloud infrastructure, performance, and scalability. You will work with real-world databases, write production-quality code, and learn how modern backend systems are designed and deployed.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs for the CognoDB Cloud platform.
Develop APIs for data handling and platform features.
Work with SQL or NoSQL databases and integrate them with backend applications.
Write efficient database queries and improve application performance.
Implement features following clean coding and software development practices.
Write unit tests and help maintain reliable, production-ready code.
Debug issues and troubleshoot backend and API-related problems.
Work with Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
Collaborate with frontend developers, product teams, and other engineers.
Learn and apply best practices for scalable backend development.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Strong programming fundamentals and knowledge of at least one programming language:
Python, Java, Node.js, Go, .NET, PHP, or Ruby
.
Basic understanding of REST API development.
Hands-on experience with at least one database such as:

MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis.

Familiarity with Git/GitHub.
Understanding of basic data structures and algorithms.
Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable code.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to learn new technologies and work in a remote environment.Good to Have
