Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Blue Collar Recruitment Executive to manage the end-to-end recruitment, deployment, engagement, and retention of shop-floor manpower for our automobile ancillary manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of automobile assembly line manpower requirements, particularly in wiring harness manufacturing, and have established networks for sourcing skilled and semi-skilled workers through both direct channels and manpower contractors.
The role requires proactive workforce planning, continuous labour availability management, and implementation of strategies to improve labour retention and productivity.
Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & Manpower Planning
- Manage end-to-end recruitment of blue-collar workforce including operators, assemblers, helpers, packers, quality inspectors, and other shop-floor personnel.
- Understand assembly line manpower requirements and align recruitment activities with production plans.
- Coordinate with production, HR, and plant management teams to forecast manpower needs.
- Maintain an adequate manpower pipeline to meet fluctuating production demands.
Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Source candidates through multiple channels including:
- Local labour markets
- Industrial clusters
- ITIs and vocational training institutes
- Employee referrals
- Job fairs and recruitment drives
- Labour contractors and manpower agencies
- Develop and maintain a strong network of reliable labour contractors and manpower suppliers.
- Evaluate contractor performance and ensure timely manpower deployment.
- Negotiate and coordinate manpower requirements with contractors.
Labour Deployment & Onboarding
- Ensure timely deployment of recruited manpower to production lines.
- Coordinate joining formalities, documentation, and induction activities.
- Verify candidate eligibility, attendance records, and statutory compliance requirements.
Labour Engagement & Retention
- Implement initiatives to motivate and retain shop-floor employees.
- Conduct regular interactions with workers to understand concerns and improve engagement.
- Coordinate with plant supervisors to address attendance, absenteeism, discipline, and productivity issues.
- Monitor labour turnover and develop strategies to reduce attrition.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain recruitment records, contractor databases, and manpower reports.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, factory regulations, and company policies.
- Generate periodic reports on recruitment, attrition, attendance, contractor performance, and manpower availability.
Desired Candidate ProfileEducation
- Graduate in any discipline.
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Labour Welfare, or related field will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in blue-collar recruitment for manufacturing industries.
- Prior experience in automobile ancillary manufacturing is mandatory.
- Experience in wiring harness manufacturing recruitment will be highly preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of automobile assembly line operations and manpower requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of labour sourcing channels in and around Chennai and Tamil Nadu.
- Experience in recruiting through both direct sourcing and manpower contractors.
- Good understanding of labour retention, workforce engagement, and shop-floor workforce management.
- Familiarity with labour laws and statutory compliance related to contract and factory workers.
- Strong networking, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet urgent manpower requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, reporting, and recruitment tracking.
