Job Summary
The Logistics Executive is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the transportation, movement, and delivery of materials, equipment, and cargo to ensure timely and cost-effective operations. The role involves coordinating with suppliers, transporters, project teams, customs agents, and internal departments to ensure smooth logistics activities while complying with safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Planning & Coordination
- Plan and coordinate the transportation of materials, equipment, and spare parts.
- Arrange vehicle, trailer, crane, and transport requirements as per operational needs.
- Monitor shipment schedules and ensure timely deliveries.
- Coordinate loading, unloading, and dispatch activities.
Transportation Management
- Liaise with transport vendors, freight forwarders, and logistics service providers.
- Obtain transport quotations and negotiate competitive rates.
- Monitor vehicle utilization and transportation costs.
- Ensure compliance with road transport regulations and permit requirements.
Import & Export Coordination
- Coordinate import and export shipments with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
- Prepare and verify shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and customs declarations.
- Monitor customs clearance processes and ensure timely release of cargo.
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and documentation requirements.
Project Logistics Support
- Coordinate logistics requirements for project sites.
- Arrange transportation of heavy equipment, cranes, and oversized cargo.
- Support mobilization and demobilization activities.
- Coordinate route surveys, permits, and escort arrangements when required.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate logistics records and transportation documentation.
- Prepare logistics reports, shipment status updates, and cost analyses.
- Process transport invoices and verify service provider charges.
- Maintain records of permits, licenses, and compliance documents.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure logistics operations comply with company safety policies and legal regulations.
- Monitor compliance with transportation, customs, and environmental requirements.
- Support audits and inspections related to logistics activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
- Professional certification in logistics or supply chain management is an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or warehouse operations.
- Experience in construction, crane rental, heavy equipment, engineering, manufacturing, or project-based industries is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong logistics planning and coordination skills.
- Knowledge of transportation and freight management.
- Understanding of import/export procedures and customs regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.) is an advantage.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
Preferred for Crane Rental / Heavy Equipment Industry
- Experience in transporting cranes, heavy machinery, and oversized cargo.
- Knowledge of route surveys, transport permits, and escort requirements.
- Familiarity with port operations, customs clearance, and freight forwarding.
- Understanding of project mobilization and demobilization logistics.
- Knowledge of lifting equipment, rigging materials, and site logistics coordination.
