We are seeking an experienced AWS Database Migration Architect to lead enterprise-scale database migration and modernization initiatives on AWS. In this role, you will design robust, secure and scalable database solutions while guiding customers through their transformation journey from legacy or on-premises platforms to modern AWS-native database services.
Responsibilities

Assess existing database workloads and identify applications and databases suitable for migration and modernization

Define end-to-end database migration and modernization strategy, architecture and roadmap on AWS

Design scalable, highly available, resilient and secure database solutions using Amazon RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL and other AWS database services
-
Architect heterogeneous database migrations from on-premises or other cloud platforms to AWS using AWS DMS and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)

Define migration patterns, wave planning, cutover strategies, rollback approaches, validation and post-migration health checks
-
Provide architectural guidance for database modernization, including re-platforming and transformation from legacy or commercial databases to PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL

Lead database performance, scalability, security, backup, disaster recovery, monitoring and operational design

Establish standards, best practices, reusable migration patterns and technical runbooks
-
Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, DevOps and business teams to address migration dependencies and technical risks

Conduct architecture reviews, workshops and technical discussions with senior customer stakeholders

Mentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership throughout migration and modernization programs
Requirements
-
12-16 years of general IT experience
-
12+ years of experience architecting enterprise-scale database solutions on AWS
-
Deep expertise in Amazon RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL
-
Strong hands-on and architectural knowledge of AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)
-
Experience leading large-scale and heterogeneous database migration programs
-
Strong knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL or similar enterprise relational databases
-
Experience with database modernization, schema conversion, data migration, performance tuning and query optimization
-
Strong understanding of AWS networking, IAM, security, encryption, monitoring, backup, high availability and disaster recovery concepts
-
Experience defining migration strategies, migration waves, cutover plans, rollback procedures, validation approaches and migration runbooks
-
Strong stakeholder management, consulting, architecture documentation and communication skills
-
Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher

Exposure to Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation

Experience with database automation and DevOps/CI/CD practices
