The Normalising Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring heat treatment furnaces to perform the normalising process on metal components. The role ensures that materials are heated to the specified temperature and cooled under controlled conditions to improve mechanical properties such as strength, hardness, and grain structure.
Operate normalising furnaces and related heat treatment equipment.
Load and unload metal components safely into furnaces.
Monitor temperature, heating cycles, and cooling processes according to production specifications.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the normalising process.
Ensure proper material handling to prevent damage or contamination.
Record process parameters, batch details, and production data in logs.
Perform visual inspection of treated components for defects.
Coordinate with quality control and production teams to maintain product standards.
Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work area.
Report any equipment malfunctions or process deviations to the supervisor.
Follow workplace safety rules, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations.
Diploma / ITI / Technical certification in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Manufacturing (preferred).
Basic knowledge of heat treatment processes, especially normalising.
Ability to read production drawings, work instructions, and process sheets.
Understanding of temperature control systems and furnace operation.
Good attention to detail and quality awareness.
Basic record-keeping and reporting skills.
