Role Overview:
The Nurse Incharge is responsible for overseeing the nursing operations of the assigned unit, ensuring high-quality patient care, staff supervision, adherence to clinical standards, and maintaining smooth coordination with multidisciplinary teams. The role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and the ability to drive quality and patient safety practices in line with hospital guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care & Clinical Supervision: Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered nursing care.Monitor and evaluate patient care activities across the unit.Supervise nursing procedures, medication administration, infection control practices, and emergency responses.Address patient complaints and ensure timely resolution.
2. Staff Management & Scheduling: Lead, supervise, and support staff nurses, junior nurses, and nursing assistants.Prepare duty rosters, manage shift allocations, and ensure optimum staffing at all times.Monitor staff performance, grooming, punctuality, and discipline.Identify training needs and coordinate relevant training programs.
3. Quality, Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with NABH/NABL/JCI nursing standards and hospital protocols.Conduct regular audits related to medication management, infection control, documentation, and patient safety.Drive quality improvement initiatives, incident reporting, and corrective actions.Ensure proper documentation in patient files and nursing records.
4. Coordination & Communication: Coordinate with doctors, administration, pharmacy, laboratory, housekeeping, and other departments for smooth operations.Participate in regular clinical meetings and multidisciplinary rounds.Ensure timely communication of critical information to the nursing manager and clinical team.
5. Inventory & Resource Management: Maintain adequate stock of medicines, consumables, and equipment.Monitor equipment functioning and raise service requests when needed.Ensure cost-effective utilization of resources and minimize wastage.
6. Administrative Responsibilities: Maintain all unit reports, registers, incident logs, and compliance records.Support in onboarding, orientation, and mentoring of new nursing staff.Ensure adherence to hospital policies regarding safety, security, and patient rights.Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly reports to the Nursing Manager.
