Job Title: Front End Developer
Location: Hybrid
Full-Time | Contract: 12 months (possible extensions or path to permanent)
About the Role:
Our client is a multi-entity technology group building and operating a regulated SaaS platform. This role builds the web front end of the product: the dashboards, administrative surfaces and user workflows that schools, institutions and their staff interact with. You turn product and design intent into responsive, accessible, performant interfaces, integrate cleanly with the backend APIs, and hold a high bar for usability and quality across the surfaces you own.
Environment and remit.
- Software engineering is performed in India by India-based developers, so you work in the same timezone and collaborate directly with the team day to day.
- The product is multi-tenant and serves distinct user types (administrators, staff, leadership), so the front end must handle role-based views, permissions and tenant-aware presentation.
- Work flows through development, QA, test and demo, and on to pre-production and production; you build with testability and release-readiness in mind.
- Several surfaces present sensitive information to authorised adult users, so correct, role-appropriate rendering and careful handling of what is shown to whom matter.
Key responsibilities.
- Interface development: build responsive, cross-browser web interfaces from product requirements and designs, using a modern framework (e.g. React, Angular or Vue) with clean, maintainable, component-based code.
- API integration: integrate front end with backend services and APIs; manage application state, data fetching, loading and error states robustly.
- Accessibility and UX quality: implement to accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG) and uphold usability, consistency and visual fidelity to the design system across the surfaces you own.
- Performance: optimise load times, rendering and bundle size; keep the front end fast and stable across devices and connection conditions.
- Role-aware presentation: implement role-based and permission-aware views so each user type sees the correct, authorised surfaces and data.
- Quality: write unit and component tests, participate in code review, and support front-end issues through to production.
- Collaboration: work closely with design, product and backend to refine requirements, flag edge cases and shape workable solutions.
Who you'll work with. Backend engineers, the tech lead and architecture function, product and design, the QA engineer(s), and the infrastructure/DevOps function for build and deployment - coordinating with the wider team through the delivery cycle.
Required skills and experience.
- Strong hands-on frontend development with a modern framework (React, Angular or Vue) and solid JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
- Proven API integration, state management and handling of complex, data-driven interfaces.
- Good grasp of responsive design, cross-browser behaviour, accessibility and front-end performance.
- Comfortable with component-based architecture, version control, and CI/CD-based delivery.
- Testing discipline (unit/component) and clean, reviewable code.
- Comfortable in a multi-tenant, role-aware, data-sensitive product context.
Desirable. Experience with a design system or component library; data-visualisation/dashboard work; TypeScript at depth; familiarity with build tooling and front-end observability; exposure to a regulated or safeguarding-sensitive domain; basic awareness of SOC 2 / ISO 27001 expectations as they touch front-end data handling.
Compliance. Works within the group's information-security policy and India DPDP data-handling expectations as they apply to the user interface and test process. Awareness of SOC 2 and ISO/IEC 27001 control environments is an advantage given the group's certification trajectory.
Success measures. Responsive, accessible, performant interfaces that match design and requirements; clean, reusable front-end code; correct role-aware rendering of sensitive surfaces; low post-release UI defect rates; and interfaces users find clear and dependable.
