Summary:
As a Senior Microsoft Power BI Developer / Consultant, you will design, develop, and maintain enterprise business intelligence solutions that transform complex business data into meaningful insights. The role requires strong expertise in Power BI development, data modeling, dashboard design, data visualization, DAX programming, and integration with enterprise data sources.
The consultant will collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, architects, and analytics teams to deliver scalable, high-performance reporting solutions aligned with business requirements. The role involves optimizing dashboards, improving data quality, implementing BI best practices, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Work as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver effective BI solutions.
2. Responsible for technical decisions related to Power BI architecture, dashboard development, reporting solutions, and analytics platforms.
3. Engage with business teams, data architects, and engineering teams to define reporting requirements and analytics strategies.
4. Design, develop, deploy, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytical solutions.
5. Develop optimized data models using Power BI Desktop, including relationships, calculated columns, measures, and semantic models.
6. Create advanced DAX calculations, KPIs, metrics, and business logic to support analytical requirements.
7. Perform data extraction, transformation, and integration from multiple sources including databases, APIs, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications.
8. Develop and optimize Power Query (M Language) transformations for efficient data preparation and processing.
9. Implement Power BI performance optimization techniques including query tuning, data model improvements, and visualization best practices.
10. Configure and manage Power BI Service features including workspaces, datasets, dashboards, reports, gateways, and deployment pipelines.
11. Implement Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), role-based access controls, and data governance practices.
12. Support Power BI administration activities including workspace management, access management, tenant configuration, and report lifecycle management.
13. Troubleshoot reporting issues, data discrepancies, refresh failures, and performance bottlenecks.
14. Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure reliable data pipelines and accurate reporting datasets.
15. Establish Power BI development standards, reusable components, dashboard frameworks, and reporting best practices.
16. Mentor junior developers on Power BI development, DAX optimization, data modeling, and visualization techniques.
17. Participate in Agile ceremonies, requirement discussions, solution reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Professional & Technical Skills:
1. Must Have Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Power BI development and enterprise reporting solutions.
2. 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Reporting, and Enterprise Data Solutions.
3. Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Report Server.
4. Expertise in developing interactive dashboards, executive scorecards, operational reports, and analytical applications.
5. Strong knowledge of DAX including calculated measures, time intelligence functions, advanced calculations, and optimization techniques.
6. Strong experience with Power Query and M Language for data extraction, transformation, and data preparation.
7. Expertise in data modeling concepts including Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, Dimensional Modeling, and Semantic Models.
8. Strong SQL skills including complex queries, joins, stored procedures, query optimization, and data validation.
9. Experience integrating Power BI with multiple data sources including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Azure Synapse Analytics, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Excel/CSV files, and REST APIs.
10. Experience with Microsoft Azure analytics services including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
11. Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing concepts, and enterprise data platforms.
12. Experience implementing Power BI security features including Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), Workspace Security, and Data Access Governance.
13. Experience optimizing Power BI reports using Performance Analyzer, Query Diagnostics, DAX Studio, and VertiPaq Analyzer.
14. Experience with Power BI deployment processes including Power BI Deployment Pipelines, Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD practices.
15. Knowledge of Power BI administration including tenant settings, gateways, refresh schedules, monitoring, and capacity management.
16. Experience working with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
17. Understanding of data governance, metadata management, data quality, and enterprise reporting standards.
18. Experience with Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
19. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.

- The candidate should have minimum 10 years of experience in Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (BI).
- This position is based at our Hyderabad office.
