We are looking for a seasoned pressure vessel professional to lead technical estimation and commercial proposal activities for static process equipment — including pressure vessels, columns, and heat exchangers. The incumbent will serve as the primary interface between engineering, procurement, and clients during the bid and offer stage.
Key responsibilities
- Review client enquiries and drawings to understand scope, applicable design codes (ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1/2, IS 2825, PD 5500), and technical requirements.
- Perform basic design review and feasibility checks for pressure vessels, columns, and shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
- Prepare accurate Material Take-Offs (MTO) for CS and SS equipment, including shells, heads, nozzles, internals, and structural attachments.
- Develop detailed cost sheets encompassing material, fabrication, testing, surface treatment, and logistics components.
- Prepare comprehensive Techno-Commercial Offers with technical compliance statements, deviations, and commercial terms.
- Participate in bid evaluation meetings, technical clarifications, and post-bid negotiations with clients.
- Respond promptly and accurately to client technical and commercial queries during the bidding phase.
- Coordinate with procurement for vendor rate contracts, material availability, and lead-time inputs.
Technical requirements
- Strong working knowledge of static equipment: pressure vessels, distillation/absorption columns, shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
- Proficiency in applicable design codes: ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1 & 2, TEMA, IS 2825, PD 5500, or equivalent.
- In-depth material knowledge for Carbon Steel (CS) and Stainless Steel (SS) grades — P-numbers, weldability, corrosion allowance selection.
- Familiarity with NDT methods (RT, UT, PT, MT) and their cost implications.
- Understanding of surface treatment, painting, and passivation requirements for CS and SS equipment.
- Maintain and update estimation databases, cost benchmarks, and offer templates for continuous improvement.
- Liaise with the design and production teams to ensure offered scope is technically and commercially achievable.
- Working knowledge of PED, DOSH, or other regional statutory requirements is an advantage.
Commercial & soft skills
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, and equipment datasheets.
- Strong analytical skills for pricing strategy and margin analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for client correspondence and internal coordination.
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Negotiation skills and confidence in client-facing discussions.
- Exposure to software tools such as PV Elite, CodeCalc, or HTRI is preferred.
