Role Overview
We are looking for a Design Engineer to develop mechanical solutions for automation fixtures, Cobot/AMR systems, plant layouts and End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) for manufacturing and material-handling applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Cobot/robot pedestals, mounting structures, risers, enclosures and mobile platforms considering structural strength, stability and maintenance access.
- Design AMR/AGV fixtures, payload transfer tops, docking stations, lift decks, roller beds and towing mechanisms.
- Design mechanical interfaces for mobile cobots/manipulators considering center-of-gravity stability during transit and arm articulation.
- Develop 2D/3D digital manufacturing cell and plant layouts integrating robots, AMRs, conveyors, safety systems and operator workstations.
- Design EOAT, smart grippers, vacuum tooling, fastening heads, automatic tool changers and collision protection systems.
- Create parametric 3D CAD models, assemblies, GD&T-compliant drawings, EBOMs and fabrication documentation.
- Perform kinematic sweeps, collision/clash analysis and reachability studies using applicable simulation/offline programming tools.
- Support DFMEA, Virtual Build Events, prototype assembly, shop-floor cell integration and plant commissioning.
Mandatory Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in 3D CAD modelling using SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, Creo or AutoCAD.
- Mechanical design experience in fixtures, tooling, automation or robotic applications.
- Understanding of robotic/cobot integration, AMR/AGV mechanical interfaces and manufacturing automation.
- Knowledge of pneumatic, electric servo and vacuum actuation technologies.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, GD&T and engineering drawings.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Process Simulate, RoboDK, DELMIA or Siemens Tecnomatix.
- Experience with SMC, Festo, Schunk, OnRobot or Robotiq components.
- Knowledge of ISO 10218 and ISO/TS 15066 / collaborative robot safety requirements.
- Experience with humanoid robot workplace adaptation is an advantage.
Candidate Profile
Mechanical Design Engineer with 3+ years of relevant experience, strong CAD and mechanical design fundamentals and hands-on exposure to robotics, automation fixtures, EOAT or AMR/Cobot applications.
