Role Overview
The AICU Staff Nurse provides continuous, high‑quality critical care to patients requiring advanced monitoring and life‑support interventions. The role demands strong clinical judgment, rapid decision‑making, and the ability to work effectively in a high‑acuity environment alongside intensivists and the multidisciplinary care team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the AICU
- Monitor vital signs, ventilators, infusion pumps, and other life‑support equipment
- Administer medications, IV infusions, and emergency interventions as per protocols
- Assist intensivists during procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and bedside diagnostics
- Perform timely and accurate documentation of patient status, interventions, and progress
- Maintain strict infection‑control and patient‑safety standards
- Respond promptly to clinical emergencies and participate in code blue situations
- Coordinate with doctors, respiratory therapists, and allied health staff for seamless patient management
- Educate and support patient families with empathy and clarity
- Ensure proper handover during shift changes with complete clinical updates
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma in Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing with valid nursing registration
- Minimum 2 years of experience in AICU / ICU / Critical Care
- Strong knowledge of critical‑care protocols, ventilator management, and emergency response
- Ability to interpret ECGs, ABGs, and other critical‑care diagnostics
- High level of clinical accuracy, vigilance, and adherence to safety standards
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient‑care skills
- Ability to remain composed and effective in high‑pressure situation
