Job Summary
We are looking for a responsible and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to support the effective functioning of the school's science laboratories. The candidate will assist teachers during practical sessions, maintain laboratory equipment and materials, ensure compliance with safety standards, and help create a safe and organized learning environment for students.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, specimens, and materials before practical classes.
- Assist teachers and students during Physics, Chemistry, and Biology practical sessions.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and apparatus in good working condition.
- Ensure laboratories are clean, organized, and comply with safety and hygiene standards.
- Store, label, and handle chemicals and laboratory materials safely.
- Maintain inventory records and monitor stock levels of laboratory supplies.
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment and coordinate repairs or replacements.
- Dispose of laboratory waste according to safety guidelines.
- Ensure first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment are available and functional.
- Maintain practical records, laboratory registers, and equipment issue logs.
- Assist in setting up laboratory examinations and practical assessments as per CBSE guidelines.
- Support the implementation of school safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Principal or Head of Department.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related Science discipline.
- Diploma in Laboratory Technology (preferred).
- Experience working in a CBSE or recognized school laboratory is desirable.

- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and scientific procedures.
- Understanding of laboratory safety practices and chemical handling.
- Inventory and stock management skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Office/Google Workspace).
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
Experience
- Freshers with relevant qualifications may apply.
- 1–3 years of experience as a Laboratory Assistant in a CBSE or recognized school is preferred.
