About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented 3D Asset & Technical Integration Support Intern to join our team in building realistic, optimized 3D assets and supporting technical workflows for Unity VR training environments. In this role, you will assist in accurately recreating real-world industrial machinery, tools, factory equipment, and workstations from reference photos, while helping optimize and integrate these assets into our Unity production pipeline.
Important Note: This position requires strong image-based 3D modeling skills. You will work extensively with reference photographs rather than technical CAD blueprints. Please ensure you are comfortable with this workflow before applying.Key Responsibilities1. 3D Asset Creation & Modeling Support
- Image-to-3D Modeling: Recreate physical industrial equipment, tools, and environment assets from reference photographs into high-fidelity 3D models.
- Low-Poly Optimization: Produce clean, low-poly geometry tailored for optimal real-time VR performance and performance budgeting in Unity.
- Texturing & UVs: Perform clean UV unwrapping and apply PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials to deliver authentic, real-world visual representation.
2. Technical Support & Unity Pipeline Integration
- Unity Integration Support: Assist in importing, setting up, and testing 3D assets inside Unity VR environments to ensure proper scaling, lighting, and performance.
- Asset Troubleshooting: Check and fix technical mesh errors prior to deployment (e.g., non-manifold geometry, broken normals, overlapping UVs, or excessive poly counts).
- Technical Feedback & Iteration: Collaborate with senior technical artists and developers to iterate on models based on technical feedback and performance benchmarks.
Qualifications & Skills
- Image-to-3D Expertise: Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret proportions and create clean 3D models using reference images.
- Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Blender (preferred) or equivalent 3D tools (Maya, 3ds Max).
- Hard-Surface & Low-Poly Skills: Solid understanding of topology, poly budgets, and surface detail optimization for real-time game engines.
- Texturing & PBR Workflows: Proficiency in UV mapping, material creation, and applying PBR textures.
- Engine Familiarity: Basic understanding of importing assets and setting up materials in Unity.
- Attention to Detail & Technical Rigor: High precision in matching real-world details while maintaining technical standards for real-time applications.
