Job Summary
The Network Operations Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex network infrastructure priority 1 and 2 incidents. This role ensures high availability, security, and scalability of the organization’s network to support business operations efficiently. The engineer collaborates with IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to enhance network performance and implement best practices. This role typically requires strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and knowledge/experience of various networking protocols and technologies such as Cisco Routing & Switch, data center networking, load balancer, SD-WAN, and Security (Cisco ASA, FTD, Umbrella, and Checkpoint firewall).
Responsibilities
Network Design & Implementations:
- Design and deploy LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN solutions to ensure seamless connectivity.
- Implement and configure hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load-balancers (Cisco, checkpoint, F5, Kemp)
- Optimize network infrastructure for high availability and redundancy.
- Deploy cloud network solutions in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (if applicable).
- Ability to evaluate technological needs and recommend appropriate solutions using standards and best practices.
Network Security & Compliance:
- Implement firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) to enhance security.
- Enforce network security policies, access controls, and encryption standards.
- Assist in security audits compliance and vulnerability remediation.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR.
Network Performance & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor network performance using tools like Solarwind, Entuity, Live Action
- Diagnose and resolve complex escalated issues.
- Perform capacity planning and network optimization to meet growing business requirements.
- Analyze network traffic and performance metrics to optimize infrastructure and enhance service delivery.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and SOPs in the GNS wiki.
Collaboration & Project Management:
- Work closely with cross-functional IT teams (Server, Voice, Security).
- Lead network-related activities and projects.
