Job Summary
The Quality Control (QC) Manager is responsible for leading the Quality Control function in a frozen food manufacturing facility. The role ensures that raw materials, processing, packaging, storage, and finished frozen products comply with company quality standards, food safety regulations, and customer requirements. The QC Manager will oversee laboratory operations, hygiene standards, cold chain compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Quality Control team to ensure product quality and food safety.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and inspection standards.
- Ensure inspection of incoming raw materials, packaging materials, and finished frozen products.
- Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with product specifications.
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI, HACCP, GMP, GHP, ISO 22000, and other applicable food safety standards.
- Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) and maintain HACCP records.
- Oversee laboratory testing, product sampling, and microbiological analysis.
- Ensure proper monitoring of blast freezing, cold storage, and temperature-controlled transportation.
- Investigate customer complaints, quality issues, and product non-conformities, and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Procurement, and R&D departments to resolve quality concerns.
- Conduct internal quality audits and support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
- Ensure calibration of laboratory and quality inspection equipment.
- Review and approve quality records, test reports, and product release documentation.
- Monitor sanitation, hygiene, pest control, and cleaning verification activities.
- Train employees on food safety, hygiene, GMP, HACCP, and quality procedures.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports for management.
- Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce quality defects and improve process efficiency.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Dairy Technology, or a related discipline.
- HACCP, ISO 22000, Internal Auditor, or Food Safety certifications will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 6–10 years of experience in Quality Control within the Frozen Food/Frozen Seafood/Frozen Meat/Frozen Vegetable/Frozen Ready-to-Eat (RTE) manufacturing industry.
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial or team leadership role.
- Hands-on experience with cold chain management and frozen food quality systems is mandatory.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of frozen food manufacturing processes.
- Thorough understanding of HACCP, GMP, GHP, ISO 22000, FSSAI, and food safety regulations.
- Knowledge of microbiological, chemical, and physical testing methods.
- Experience in managing quality documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
