Job Summary**
The VP, Engineering Cyber Security Manager will lead and manage a team of cybersecurity engineers, overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust security solutions across LPL Financial's critical infrastructure and applications. This role requires a strong leader with deep technical expertise in cybersecurity, a strategic mindset, and excellent communication skills to protect the firm's assets and client data.
Job Responsibilities**
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of cybersecurity engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute the cybersecurity engineering strategy, aligning with overall business objectives and risk appetite.
- Oversee the design, architecture, and implementation of security controls, tools, and platforms, including but not limited to SIEM, EDR, DLP, IAM, vulnerability management, and cloud security solutions.
- Drive the adoption of secure development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices across engineering teams.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and other IT teams to integrate security into the entire technology stack.
- Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning, and oversee remediation efforts.
- Stay abreast of emerging cyber threats, technologies, and industry best practices to proactively enhance LPL Financial's security posture.
- Develop and maintain documentation for security architectures, configurations, and procedures.
- Participate in incident response activities, providing technical expertise and leadership during security incidents.
- Manage relationships with security vendors and evaluate new security products and services.
- Present security strategies, roadmaps, and incident summaries to senior leadership.
Job Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level security solutions.
- Deep understanding of security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls).
- Expertise in cloud security principles and technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and application security.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or SANS GIAC are highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a high-performing technical team.
- Experience in the financial services industry is a plus.
