A factory supervisor leads daily manufacturing operations on the shop floor. They manage production schedules, allocate staff, enforce safety standards, and ensure quality control. Their goal is to maximize output efficiency, minimize waste, and meet facility targets.
- Shift Management: Coordinate daily production schedules and assign tasks to factory workers.
- Quality Control: Monitor production lines to ensure output meets company specifications.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce health and safety regulations (such as OSHA or local equivalents) and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
- Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance while addressing grievances and boosting morale.
- Resource Management: Monitor inventory of raw materials and track finished goods to avoid production bottlenecks.
- Reporting: Analyze productivity metrics and compile shift reports for senior management.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Education: Typically requires a Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent combination of experience.
- Experience: 2–5 years of proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Problem-Solving: Strong decision-making skills to resolve equipment malfunctions or labor shortages quickly.
