Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct microbiological analysis and testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, water, and environmental samples as per GMP standards.
- Perform microbial limit tests, pathogen testing, and shelf-life studies for FMCG products.
- Maintain and monitor microbiology laboratory operations, equipment calibration, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GLP, ISO, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
- Prepare and maintain microbiological records, SOPs, test reports, and audit documentation.
- Monitor environmental hygiene, sanitation validation, and cleaning verification activities.
- Support quality assurance and production teams in microbiological investigations and CAPA implementation.
- Participate in internal and external audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Monitor contamination control programs and implement corrective actions where required.
- Coordinate with production and QA teams for product quality and food safety compliance.
- 1) Isolate and make cultures of bacteria or other microorganisms in prescribed media, controlling moisture, aeration, temperature, and nutrition.
- 2) Perform tests on water, food and the environment to detect harmful microorganisms and to obtain information about sources of pollution and contamination.
- 3) Examine physiological, morphological, and cultural characteristics, using a microscope, to identify and classify microorganisms in human, water, and food specimens.
- 4) Provide laboratory services for health departments, for community environmental health programs and for physicians needing information for diagnosis and treatment.
- 5) Observe action of microorganisms upon living tissues of plants, higher animals, and other microorganisms, and on dead organic matter.
- 6) Investigate the relationship between organisms and disease, including the control of epidemics and the effects of antibiotics on microorganisms.
- 7) Supervise biological technologists and technicians and other scientists.
- 8) Study growth, structure, development, and general characteristics of bacteria and other microorganisms to understand their relationship to human, plant, and animal health.
- 9) Prepare technical reports and recommendations based upon research outcomes.
- 10) Use a variety of specialised equipment such as electron microscopes, gas chromatography and high-pressure liquid chromatographs, electrophoresis units, thermocyclers, fluorescence activated cell sorters and phosphoimagers.
- 11) Conduct chemical analyses of substances, such as acids, alcohols, and enzymes.
Requirements:
- Qualification: B.Sc / M.Sc in Microbiology / Biotechnology / Life Sciences.
- Experience: FMCG / Food / Consumer Goods industry experience preferred.
- Knowledge of microbiological testing methods, GMP, GLP, HACCP, and quality systems.
- Good documentation and analytical skills.
