Shape the Cost of Precision Engineering

Join our growing Aerospace Manufacturing team as a Costing Engineer, where you'll play a key role in estimating costs for high-precision aerospace components and helping win new business through accurate and competitive quotations.
This role is ideal for professionals with a strong understanding of CNC machining, manufacturing processes, and cost analysis who enjoy working closely with Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Business Development teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for aerospace machined components and assemblies.
- Analyse customer drawings, 3D models, specifications, and RFQs to determine manufacturing feasibility.
- Estimate machining cycle times for CNC Turning, Milling, and Multi-Axis machining operations.
- Calculate manufacturing costs, including material, tooling, machining, inspection, heat treatment, surface finishing, and outsourced processes.
- Develop detailed cost breakdowns covering labour, machine hours, tooling, consumables, and overheads.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering and CAM teams to identify cost-effective machining strategies.
- Coordinate with Procurement to obtain supplier quotations for raw materials, special processes, and purchased components.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), prototype, and production cost planning activities.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process optimisation, and value engineering without compromising quality.
- Maintain and update costing databases, standard cycle times, and cost models.
- Participate in customer quotation reviews and internal bid review meetings.
- Ensure quotations comply with customer, quality, and aerospace industry requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3–8 years of experience in Cost Estimation, Manufacturing Engineering, CAM, CNC Programming, or Production Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, including Turning, Milling, and 3, 4 & 5-axis machining.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D CAD models.
- Good understanding of machining cycle times, tooling selection, cutting parameters, and manufacturing methods.
- Experience estimating components manufactured from Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Titanium, Inconel, and other aerospace alloys.
- Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes such as anodising, plating, heat treatment, grinding, EDM, and inspection is desirable.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and commercial skills.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, NX CAM, SolidWorks, or similar is an added advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- BE/B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Automobile Engineering.
- Experience in Aerospace, Defence, Precision Engineering, or High-Precision Manufacturing is highly preferred.
