Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Laser Operator & Programmer to handle CNC laser cutting machines used for sheet-metal fabrication. The candidate will be responsible for preparing laser cutting programs, setting up and operating the machine, optimizing material utilization, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
1. Laser Programming
- Create and modify CNC laser cutting programs based on engineering drawings, DXF/DWG files, and production requirements.
- Perform CAD/CAM programming and nesting for optimum material utilization.
- Select appropriate cutting parameters such as laser power, speed, frequency, gas pressure, nozzle, and focus.
- Optimize cutting sequences to reduce cycle time, heat distortion, and material wastage.
- Check drawings, material specifications, thickness, tolerances, and revision levels before programming.
- Make program corrections based on first-piece inspection and production feedback.
- Maintain and organize laser programs, nesting files, and revision records.
2. Laser Machine Operation
- Set up and operate CNC fiber/CO₂ laser cutting machines.
- Load sheet metal, select the correct program, and verify material and thickness.
- Set and check nozzles, lenses/protective windows, focus position, assist gas, and other machine parameters.
- Conduct first-piece inspection before starting batch production.
- Monitor machine operation and cutting quality throughout production.
- Identify and resolve common cutting problems such as burrs, dross, incomplete cutting, excessive heat, or dimensional errors.
- Handle sheet loading/unloading and finished components safely.
3. Quality Control
- Inspect components using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges.
- Ensure parts meet drawing dimensions, tolerances, and customer specifications.
- Identify non-conforming parts and take corrective action.
- Maintain production and inspection records.
4. Production & Maintenance
- Achieve daily production targets while maintaining required quality.
- Minimize material scrap, machine downtime, and consumable usage.
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
- Monitor consumables such as nozzles, lenses/protective windows, and assist-gas usage.
- Report machine faults and technical issues to maintenance/supervisors.
- Follow 5S, safety procedures, and company manufacturing standards.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of sheet-metal fabrication and laser cutting processes.
- Experience with CNC laser programming and nesting.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD / CAD-CAM software; experience with software such as SigmaNEST, CypCut, or equivalent is an advantage.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of sheet-metal materials including MS, SS, aluminum, galvanized steel, etc.
- Understanding of laser cutting parameters for different materials and thicknesses.
- Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional tolerances is preferred.
Pay: ₹20,459.50 - ₹25,391.81 per month
