R&D Executive – Food Industry (Background)
Role Purpose:
The R&D Executive is responsible for developing new food products, improving existing formulations, ensuring product quality, and supporting commercialization while meeting food safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize new food products and recipes.
- Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale trials.
- Improve existing products for taste, texture, shelf life, cost, and nutrition.
- Source and evaluate new raw materials and ingredients.
- Perform sensory evaluation and product testing.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and Marketing teams during product development.
- Prepare product specifications, SOPs, and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards (FSSAI, HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, etc.).
- Analyze customer feedback and market trends to identify product opportunities.
- Support product scale-up and commercial production.
Educational Background
- B.Tech/M.Tech in Food Technology
- B.Sc./M.Sc. in Food Science
- Dairy Technology
- Nutrition or related food science disciplines
Preferred Skills
- Food formulation and ingredient functionality
- Product development and process optimization
- Knowledge of food regulations and labeling
- Shelf-life studies and stability testing

Experience
- Fresher–2 years: Support product development, testing, documentation, and quality evaluations.
- 3–5 years: Independently manage product development projects, conduct plant trials, and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- 5+ years: Lead innovation projects, mentor junior R&D staff, and drive strategic product development initiatives.
