We are looking for a skilled Quality Engineer with experience in bus body manufacturing, fabrication, welding, painting, assembly, and vehicle quality inspection. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring product quality standards, process compliance, defect reduction, and continuous improvement across bus body production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and ensure quality standards during bus body fabrication and assembly
- Conduct inspection of:
- Structural fabrication
- Welding quality
- Sheet metal work
- Painting and finishing
- Interior fitment and final assembly
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final quality inspections
- Identify defects, root causes, and implement corrective/preventive actions
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and industry standards
- Prepare quality reports, inspection records, and documentation
- Coordinate with production, design, and supplier teams for quality improvements
- Conduct audits and support customer inspections
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for rejection and rework reduction
- Monitor quality KPIs such as:
- PPM
- Rejection rate
- First Pass Yield
- Warranty issues
Required Skills
Knowledge of bus body manufacturing processes
- Experience in welding inspection and fabrication quality
- Understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and tolerances
- Familiarity with quality tools:
- 7 QC Tools
- CAPA
- Root Cause Analysis
- FMEA
- 5 Why
- Kaizen
- Knowledge of paint quality standards and assembly inspection
- Experience with ISO quality systems
Software Skills
- MS Excel and reporting tools
- ERP/QMS systems knowledge preferred
- Basic AutoCAD drawing understanding is an advantage
Qualifications
- Diploma / B.Tech / BE in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, or Industrial Engineering
- Certification in welding inspection or quality management preferred
