Title: Lead- Backend/ Platform Engineering
Location: Work from home/ Gurugram
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Tech Lead who can drive end-to-end system design, development, execution, and team guidance across multiple projects.
This role requires strong backend engineering skills, system design capability, and ownership mindset. You will work on scalable distributed systems, real-time communication, production deployments, and engineering execution while mentoring developers and improving overall system quality.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Architecture
- Design scalable and reliable systems using microservices and event-driven architecture
- Define service boundaries, integrations, and data flow patterns
- Make architecture decisions around scalability, performance, and fault tolerance
- Review code and guide technical design across projects
Hands-on Development
- Contribute actively to backend and frontend development
- Build and maintain APIs, distributed services, and real-time systems
- Ensure production-grade code quality, testing, and observability
Execution Ownership
- Own delivery from design to production
- Break down complex problems into actionable tasks
- Ensure timelines are realistic and execution stays on track
- Reduce dependency on individual contributors through better engineering practices
Team Mentorship
- Mentor engineers and improve system-level thinking
- Conduct technical reviews and support debugging/problem-solving
- Help developers build stronger ownership and accountability
DevOps & Production Support
- Work closely with DevOps teams on deployments, monitoring, and scaling
- Ensure production stability and quick incident resolution
- Improve CI/CD, release processes, and observability practices
Required Skills
- 7+ yrs of experience Node.js development
- Strong DS/Algo fundamentals
- Strong backend system design and debugging skills
- Good understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture
- Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or similar databases
- Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Good understanding of WebSockets and real-time systems
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Strong problem-solving and execution skills
Good to Have
- Experience with WebRTC or real-time media systems (MediaSoup)
- Exposure to AWS, Azure, or DigitalOcean
- Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, or Kibana
- Familiarity with React
