We are looking for a 6-9 years of QA or software testing experience, including leading QA efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
What You’ll Do:
- Own the end-to-end quality strategy from test planning and automation architecture to release readiness and production monitoring.
- Design, build, and scale robust test automation frameworks across UI, API, integration, and performance testing layers.
- Define and enforce quality gates across the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring automated checks are embedded in every stage of delivery.
- Lead and mentor a teamof QA engineers, fostering a culture of automation-first thinking, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teams to shift quality left- catching issues early through better specs, reviews, and testing strategies.
- Establish and track quality KPIs (defect escape rate, test coverage, automation ROI, MTTR) and report on quality health to leadership.
- Drive performance and load testing initiatives to ensure Bruno scales reliably as the user base grows.
- Champion best practices in test data management, environment management, and test infrastructure.
- Evaluate and introduce modern QA tools and technologies that align with Bruno’s open-source, developer-first ethos.
- Participate in incident reviews and root cause analysis, feeding learnings back into prevention-focused testing strategies.
About You:
- 7-9 years of experience in software quality engineering.
- Deep expertise in test automation- hands-on experience building and maintaining automation frameworks using tools like Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, or similar.
- Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or similar languages for writing test scripts, utilities, and custom tooling.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and how to integrate automated testing seamlessly.
- Experience with API testing tools and frameworks.
- Proven ability to build quality processes from scratch in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
- Excellent understanding of software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills- you can translate quality metrics into business impact.
- A product mindset-you care about the user experience, not just the test results.
Bonus:
- Experience with Electron-based applications or desktop software testing.
- Familiarity with open-source projects and community-driven development workflows.
- Hands-on experience with performance testing tools (k6, Locust, JMeter).
- Experience testing developer tools, API clients, CLI tools, or similar developer-first products.
- Exposure to AI-assisted testing tools or building test automation with GenAI capabilities.
