We are looking for a technically skilled professional to support technical service, colorant system management, and product development within the solvent-borne coatings and aerosol paint segment.
The role involves developing and optimizing solvent-borne colorant dispersions, supporting aerosol paint formulations, performing color matching, and assisting customers or internal teams with coating performance and tinting systems.
Candidates should have practical experience with pigment dispersions, solvent systems, coating resins, and color matching technologies used in industrial paints or aerosol coatings.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Service
- Provide technical support to customers and internal teams regarding aerosol paints, solvent-borne coatings, and tinting systems.
- Assist with color matching, shade correction, and troubleshooting color variation issues.
- Support customers in the proper use of solvent-borne colorants and tinting systems.
- Investigate coating issues such as poor dispersion, settling, spray defects, film defects, or incompatibility.
- Conduct application testing and performance evaluations of coatings.
Product Development
- Develop and optimize solvent-borne colorant dispersions for tinting systems.
- Support development of aerosol paint formulations including primers, enamels, and clear coats.
- Evaluate pigments, resins, dispersants, additives, and solvents for performance and compatibility.
- Improve product performance related to dispersion stability, color strength and tinting efficiency, storage stability, spray performance, and drying time.
Color Matching & Color Management
- Perform precise color matching using spectrophotometers and color formulation software.
- Maintain and update color libraries and tinting databases.
- Evaluate color differences using ΔE tolerance standards.
- Troubleshoot metamerism, pigment incompatibility, and batch-to-batch color variation.
Laboratory Testing
- Conduct testing of coatings including viscosity and rheology, dispersion quality (fineness of grind), drying time, gloss and film appearance, adhesion, and durability.
Production & Process Support
- Assist manufacturing teams with scale-up of new formulations.
- Troubleshoot pigment dispersion issues, tinting inconsistencies, and production deviations.
- Prepare technical documentation, formulation records, and test reports.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of pigments, dispersions, and solvent-borne coating chemistry.
- Experience with color matching systems and spectrophotometers.
- Knowledge of coating resins, additives, and solvent systems.
- Familiarity with aerosol paint technology or spray coatings.
- Ability to troubleshoot color, dispersion, and coating application issues.
