Job Summary
Annai Fathima College of Arts & Science is seeking a skilled and reliable Electrician Cum Plumber to oversee the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical and plumbing systems across the college campus, including academic buildings, laboratories, administrative offices, hostels, staff quarters, and other facilities. The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience in both electrical and plumbing maintenance, ensuring the smooth and safe operation of campus infrastructure.
Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, switches, sockets, lighting systems, distribution boards, and electrical equipment.
- Perform routine inspections of electrical systems to identify faults and ensure operational efficiency.
- Diagnose electrical problems and carry out repairs promptly.
- Maintain generators, UPS systems, inverters, water pump electrical controls, and backup power systems.
- Ensure proper functioning of indoor and outdoor lighting across the campus.
- Assist in electrical upgrades, renovations, and new installations.
- Follow all electrical safety regulations and maintenance procedures.
Plumbing Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair water supply lines, drainage systems, sanitary fixtures, and plumbing equipment.
- Repair leaking pipes, taps, valves, flush systems, water tanks, and plumbing fittings.
- Inspect plumbing systems regularly to identify maintenance needs and prevent breakdowns.
- Maintain and troubleshoot water pumps, pipelines, overhead tanks, and sewage systems.
- Ensure uninterrupted water supply to classrooms, hostels, laboratories, canteens, and staff quarters.
- Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies and service requests.
General Maintenance Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities to minimize equipment failures.
- Attend and resolve maintenance complaints from various departments within specified timelines.
- Maintain records of maintenance work, repairs, inspections, and materials used.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and maintenance teams for major repair projects.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Support infrastructure maintenance activities during college events and special programs.
- Assist in emergency maintenance work as required.
Qualifications
- ITI Certificate in Electrician Trade, Plumbing Trade, or related technical qualification.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is an added advantage.
- Valid Electrical License (preferred where applicable).
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in electrical and plumbing maintenance.
- Experience in educational institutions, commercial buildings, hospitals, residential complexes, or facility management is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Good understanding of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and drainage systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance manuals.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and preventive maintenance practices.
- Problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Time management and multitasking abilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform manual maintenance tasks and lift equipment when required.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoor environments.
- Ability to handle emergency maintenance situations effectively.
