Job Summary
The Counsellor-cum-PGT Psychology is responsible for teaching Psychology to Classes XI and XII while promoting students' mental health and well-being through individual and group counselling, life-skills education, and collaboration with teachers and parents.
Key Responsibilities
A. Teaching (PGT Psychology)
- Teach Psychology to Classes XI and XII as per the prescribed curriculum.
- Prepare annual plans, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments.
- Conduct practical activities, projects, and classroom discussions.
- Evaluate students' academic performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Prepare students for board examinations and competitive exams.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching methodologies into classroom instruction.
B. Student Counselling
- Conduct individual and group counselling sessions.
- Address academic, emotional, behavioural, social, and career-related concerns.
- Identify students requiring psychological support and design intervention plans.
- Maintain confidential counselling records.
- Refer students to mental health professionals when specialized care is required.
C. Student Well-being
- Organize mental health awareness campaigns.
- Conduct life skills, stress management, exam anxiety, bullying prevention, and emotional wellness workshops.
- Promote positive behaviour and resilience among students.
- Support inclusive education and child protection initiatives.
D. Parent & Teacher Collaboration
- Guide parents regarding students' emotional and behavioural needs.
- Collaborate with teachers to identify students needing additional support.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings.
- Conduct orientation programmes for parents and faculty on adolescent mental health.
E. Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain counselling documentation and academic records.
- Prepare reports and student progress summaries.
- Participate in school committees, examinations, admissions, and co-curricular activities.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and ethical standards.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Master's Degree (M.A. or M.Sc.) in Psychology.
- B.Ed. from a recognized university (required for the teaching role).
Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:
- Diploma/Certificate in Guidance and Counselling.
- 3–5 years of experience in teaching Psychology and/or school counselling.
- Computer proficiency.
- Excellent communication skills.
