Position Title: Senior Student Visa Counsellor
Job Summary:
The Senior Student Visa Counsellor plays a crucial role in facilitating the visa application process for international students seeking to study abroad. They provide expert guidance and support to students throughout the application process, ensuring compliance with immigration regulations and requirements. The senior counsellor oversees a team of visa counsellors, coordinates visa application procedures, and maintains up-to-date knowledge of immigration policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Visa Counselling: Provide comprehensive guidance to international students regarding visa application procedures, requirements, and documentation.
Application Support: Assist students in completing visa application forms, gathering necessary documents, and preparing for visa interviews.
Compliance Management: Stay updated on immigration laws, regulations, and policies to ensure accurate and timely advice to students.
Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of visa counsellors, providing training, guidance, and support as needed.
Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with students, educational institutions, embassies/consulates, and immigration authorities.
Documentation Review: Review visa application materials for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with visa regulations.
Troubleshooting: Address any issues or concerns related to visa applications, including delays, rejections, or appeals.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline visa application processes and improve service delivery for students.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with admissions officers, academic advisors, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition for international students.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of visa applications, approvals, and rejections for reporting and compliance purposes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Relations, Education, Counselling).
Prior experience in student visa counselling or immigration advisory roles.
Strong knowledge of immigration laws, visa regulations, and procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Leadership experience, with the ability to manage a team effectively.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Cultural sensitivity and awareness of the needs of international students.
Proficiency in relevant languages may be preferred, depending on the student demographic served.
