Position Overview
The Regional Sales Manager – South will be responsible for driving business growth, distributor development, market expansion, and key account management across the South India region. The ideal candidate should have a strong FMCG sales background with significant experience in handling Modern Trade, Retail Sales, and premium cold-chain products.
Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully managed categories such as Cheese, Dairy Products, Frozen Foods, Ice Cream, Cold Cuts, Beverages, Imported Foods, or other temperature-sensitive premium FMCG products.
The role demands a commercially strong leader capable of managing distributors, retail chains, key accounts, and sales teams while delivering sustainable growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities1. Sales & Revenue Growth
· Drive primary and secondary sales across South India.
· Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
· Develop and execute regional sales plans aligned with business objectives.
· Drive category-wise growth and product mix achievement.
· Focus on profitable business expansion.
2. Modern Trade Management
· Manage key Modern Trade accounts across South India.
· Develop Joint Business Plans (JBP) with retail chains.
· Negotiate commercial terms, listings, promotions, and visibility programs.
· Ensure product availability and planogram compliance.
· Monitor ROI on trade promotions and marketing activities.

3. Retail & General Trade Management
· Develop General Trade distribution network.
· Appoint and manage distributors across key markets.
· Expand numeric and weighted distribution.
· Improve retail outlet productivity and sales contribution.
· Ensure effective execution at outlet level.
4. Cold Chain & Premium Product Management
· Manage sales and distribution of temperature-sensitive products.
· Ensure adherence to cold-chain requirements.
· Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams for product quality maintenance.
· Monitor stock rotation, FEFO implementation, and expiry management.
· Develop sales opportunities for premium imported products.
5. Team Management & Leadership
· Lead Area Sales Managers, City Business Managers, and Sales Executives.
· Conduct regular market visits and joint working.
· Set sales objectives and monitor performance.
· Coach and develop team capabilities.
· Drive accountability and performance culture.
6. Market Development & Expansion
· Identify new cities, channels, and growth opportunities.
· Expand product availability across retail formats.
· Develop new distributors and retail partnerships.
· Launch new products successfully in the market.
· Monitor competition and market trends.
7. Distributor & Key Account Management
· Build strong distributor relationships.
· Monitor distributor inventory and profitability.
· Ensure timely collections and credit control.
· Resolve distributor operational issues.
· Drive distributor sales productivity.
8. Planning, MIS & Business Analytics
· Prepare sales forecasts and annual business plans.
· Review market intelligence and business reports.
· Track achievement against targets and budgets.
· Ensure timely submission of MIS and sales reports.
· Analyze business performance and recommend corrective actions.
Educational Qualification
· Graduate in any discipline.
· MBA in Marketing preferred.
Experience Required
· 10–15 years of FMCG sales experience.
· Minimum 6–8 years handling Modern Trade and Retail Sales.
· Experience handling premium food products, frozen foods, dairy products, cheese, ice cream, cold cuts, imported foods, beverages, or similar categories.
· Strong exposure to South Indian retail markets.
· Proven experience in distributor management and team leadership.
