Summary of the Position:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Business Development Manager with strong exposure to the Tekla steel detailing industry. The candidate will be responsible for generating new business opportunities, building client relationships, and expanding market presence in structural steel detailing, fabrication drawings, and allied engineering services. The ideal candidate should possess knowledge of Tekla Structures workflows, steel fabrication processes, construction industry practices, and international detailing standards.
Key Deliverables:
Business Development & Sales
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in structural steel detailing services.
- Generate leads through cold calling, networking, LinkedIn outreach, email campaigns, and industry contacts.
- Build and maintain relationships with steel fabricators, EPC companies, contractors, consultants, and construction firms.
- Prepare and deliver technical and commercial proposals to prospective clients.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements.
Client Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the sales cycle.
- Understand client requirements related to Tekla modeling, connection design, shop drawings, and erection drawings.
- Coordinate with project and detailing teams to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain long-term client relationships and identify repeat business opportunities.
Market Research & Strategy
- Analyse market trends, competitors, and customer requirements in the steel detailing industry.
- Develop strategic plans to expand business in domestic and international markets. Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and construction industry events.
Coordination & Reporting
- Work closely with estimation, detailing, and project management teams.
- Maintain CRM records, sales forecasts, and pipeline reports.
- Achieve monthly and annual revenue targets.
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
MBA in Marketing or Business Development is preferred.
Experience: 8 to 12 years of experience in business development or sales within:
- Tekla Steel Detailing
- Structural Steel Industry
- BIM Services
- Fabrication / Construction Engineering Services
Technical Knowledge
Understanding of:
- Tekla Structures
- Steel fabrication workflows
- Shop & erection drawings
- Structural BIM coordination
- AISC / OSHA / BS / AUS standards (preferred)
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong negotiation and client-handling abilities.
- Ability to work independently and achieve sales targets.
- Good networking and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Existing contacts in steel fabrication or construction companies.
- Experience handling US, UK, Middle East and Australian standard detailing clients. Familiarity with RFQs, estimation, and proposal preparation.
- Knowledge of offshore detailing business models is an advantage.
