Senior Fashion Designer – Indian Traditional SuitsJob Summary
We are seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior Fashion Designer specializing in Indian traditional suits. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in hand embroidery, surface ornamentation, print development, neckline design, and complete collection conceptualization.
This role is focused exclusively on designing women's ethnic suits, co-ord sets, kurta sets, dupatta concepts, and festive wear. Candidates with experience primarily in bridal wear or lehenga design are not preferred.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Collection Development
- Conceptualize and develop complete ethnic wear collections from initial inspiration to final production.
- Create innovative suit designs aligned with current market trends and brand aesthetics.
- Design coordinated kurta, bottom, and dupatta combinations.
- Develop seasonal, festive, occasion wear, and everyday ethnic collections.
Embroidery & Handwork Development
- Design and develop hand embroidery concepts.
- Create artwork for:
- Thread Embroidery
- Mirror Work
- Sequins Work
- Bead Work
- Aari Work
- Zari & Dori Work
- Appliqué Work
- Mixed Surface Ornamentation
- Coordinate with karigars and sampling teams for embroidery execution.
Print Development
- Develop original print concepts suitable for Indian ethnic wear.
- Create placement prints, all-over prints, floral prints, festive prints, and contemporary ethnic motifs.
- Work closely with print vendors and production teams to ensure design accuracy.
Neckline & Garment Design
- Design unique and commercially viable necklines.
- Create detailed garment sketches and technical drawings.
- Develop innovative silhouette and styling concepts.
- Ensure designs are production-friendly and commercially successful.
Sampling & Product Development
- Supervise sample development from sketch to final garment.
- Conduct fitting sessions and suggest necessary modifications.
- Approve final samples before bulk production.
Trend Research
- Research Indian and international ethnic fashion trends.
- Analyze competitor collections and emerging consumer preferences.
- Present mood boards, color stories, embroidery directions, and seasonal concepts.
Daily Expectations
- Develop a minimum of 3–5 complete design concepts per day.
- Create embroidery and neckline developments regularly.
- Present new print and surface design ideas weekly.
- Coordinate with sampling and production teams for timely execution.
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in Indian ethnic wear design.
- Advanced knowledge of embroidery techniques and handwork developments.
- Excellent understanding of print creation and textile design.
- Strong sketching and garment visualization skills.
- Knowledge of fabric selection, trims, embellishments, and garment construction.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, or equivalent design software.
- Ability to convert concepts into commercially successful products.
Experience Required
- 4–8+ years of experience in women's ethnic wear design.
- Proven experience designing Indian traditional suits and kurta sets.
- Strong portfolio showcasing embroidery, print, neckline, and collection development work.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Passionate about Indian ethnic fashion.
- Strong aesthetic sense and attention to detail.
- Ability to independently lead design development.
- Experience working with manufacturers, karigars, and production teams.
- Commercial understanding of the Indian ethnic wear market.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
