Job Summary
The Assistant Professor in Operation Theatre Technology is responsible for teaching, practical training, research, and student mentorship in perioperative care and operation theatre management. The role involves preparing students to assist surgical teams, manage operation theatre procedures, maintain sterile environments, and ensure patient safety in accordance with healthcare standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Academic Delivery
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, and clinical demonstrations in Operation Theatre Technology.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments, and assessment tools.
- Conduct laboratory and simulation-based training for students.
- Assess student performance through examinations, practical evaluations, case studies, and projects.
- Implement innovative teaching methodologies and Outcome-Based Education (OBE) practices.
Clinical Training & Laboratory Management
- Supervise practical training related to operation theatre procedures and equipment.
- Coordinate clinical postings and internships with hospitals and healthcare institutions.
- Train students in aseptic techniques, sterilization procedures, and infection control practices.
- Ensure proper maintenance and utilization of operation theatre equipment and laboratory resources.
- Promote adherence to patient safety and quality standards.
Research & Publications
- Conduct research in surgical care, operation theatre management, patient safety, and healthcare practices.
- Publish research papers in reputed journals and conferences.
- Guide students in research projects, case studies, and presentations.
- Participate in funded research and consultancy initiatives.
Student Mentorship & Development
- Mentor students regarding academic progress, clinical skills, and career development.
- Support students in internships, placements, and professional certification programs.
- Organize workshops, seminars, guest lectures, and continuing education activities.
Academic Administration
- Participate in curriculum development and revision.
- Maintain academic, laboratory, and clinical records.
- Contribute to accreditation and quality assurance initiatives such as NAAC and NABH-related activities.
- Assist in admissions, examinations, and departmental administration.
Industry & Hospital Collaboration
- Develop partnerships with hospitals, surgical centers, and healthcare organizations.
- Facilitate clinical exposure, internships, and placement opportunities.
- Coordinate industry interactions and expert talks from healthcare professionals.
Qualification & ExperienceEssential Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Operation Theatre Technology (BOTT) or equivalent.
- Master's Degree in Operation Theatre Technology / Allied Health Sciences or relevant specialization.
- Qualification and experience as per UGC and regulatory body norms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (preferred).
- Teaching, clinical, or research experience in operation theatre management and surgical care.
- Research publications and professional certifications will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of operation theatre procedures and surgical instrumentation.
- Understanding of anesthesia support, sterilization techniques, and infection control.
- Familiarity with OT equipment maintenance and patient monitoring systems.
- Strong teaching, communication, and mentoring skills.
