Job Summary
The Pharmacy Cashier is responsible for accurately processing billing and payment transactions for pharmacy customers while ensuring excellent customer service. The role includes generating invoices, handling cash and digital payments, maintaining billing records, coordinating with pharmacists, and ensuring compliance with hospital billing policies and financial procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate accurate pharmacy bills based on prescriptions and dispensed medications.
- Process payments through cash, UPI, debit/credit cards, bank transfers, and other approved payment methods.
- Verify prescriptions and billing details before processing transactions.
- Issue invoices, receipts, and payment acknowledgements to customers.
- Maintain accurate records of daily cash collections and digital transactions.
- Perform daily cash reconciliation and submit reports to the Accounts Department as per hospital procedures.
- Coordinate with pharmacists to ensure correct billing of medicines and medical consumables.
- Handle refunds, billing corrections, and cancelled transactions only with proper authorization.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and billing records.
- Ensure compliance with hospital billing policies, financial controls, and statutory requirements.
- Assist patients and attendants with billing-related queries in a courteous and professional manner.
- Report billing discrepancies, cash shortages, excess cash, or system issues immediately to the Pharmacy In-Charge.
- Ensure the billing counter is clean, organized, and adequately supplied with billing materials.
- Support inventory-related documentation whenever required by the Pharmacy Department.
- Work closely with the Accounts Department for end-of-day closing and financial reporting.
- Follow hospital policies regarding ethics, confidentiality, attendance, and professional conduct.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, Diploma, or Higher Secondary qualification with relevant experience.
- Basic computer knowledge is mandatory.
- Knowledge of hospital billing software or pharmacy management systems is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 0–3 years of experience as a cashier, preferably in a hospital or retail pharmacy.
- Freshers with good computer skills and communication abilities may also be considered.

Pay: ₹8,122.59 - ₹35,441.84 per month
