Duty Medical Officer (DMO)
Role Summary
The Duty Medical Officer monitors patient care, responds to emergencies, coordinates with specialists, and ensures smooth medical operations during duty hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine and diagnose patients
- Provide emergency and first-aid treatment
- Monitor admitted patients and maintain medical records
- Prescribe medications and treatment plans
- Coordinate with consultants and nursing staff
- Handle ICU/ward/emergency cases during shifts
- Assist in admissions and discharges
- Ensure hospital protocols and safety standards are followed
- Respond to medico-legal and critical care situations
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports
Required Qualifications
- MBBS degree from a recognized institution
- Medical council registration/license
- Internship completion
- BLS/ACLS certification (preferred in many hospitals)
