Job Summary:
The Consultant Medical Oncologist is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cancer patients using systemic therapies such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormonal therapy. The role involves evidence-based clinical decision-making, multidisciplinary collaboration, and ensuring high standards of patient care across the oncology continuum.
Key Responsibilities:Clinical Care & Patient Management:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and stage cancer patients using clinical and diagnostic data
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on tumor type, stage, and patient condition
- Administer and supervise systemic therapies (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy)
- Monitor treatment response and modify protocols as required
- Manage treatment-related toxicities and complications
Oncology Treatment Planning:
- Follow standard treatment protocols and international guidelines (NCCN, ESMO, etc.)
- Prescribe appropriate chemotherapy regimens and supportive medications
- Ensure dose calculations based on BSA and clinical parameters
- Coordinate with pharmacy for safe chemotherapy administration
Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
- Participate in tumor boards and case discussions
- Collaborate with surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists
- Contribute to integrated treatment planning
Patient Counseling & Communication:
- Explain diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and risks to patients and families
- Provide emotional support and address patient concerns
- Guide patients on treatment adherence and follow-up
Inpatient & Outpatient Care:
- Manage oncology OPD consultations and follow-ups
- Oversee admitted patients receiving chemotherapy or supportive care
- Provide emergency care for oncology-related complications (febrile neutropenia, etc.)
Palliative & Supportive Care:
- Provide symptom management (pain, nausea, fatigue, etc.)
- Coordinate with palliative care teams for advanced-stage patients
- Ensure quality of life and end-of-life care support
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records
- Document treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and NABH standards

Pay: ₹200,000.00 - ₹350,000.00 per year
