Job Purpose
The Design Engineer is responsible for preparing, coordinating, reviewing, and supporting all design-related drawings and technical documents to ensure accurate, safe, and cost-effective execution of projects as per specifications, codes, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities1. Design & Drawings
- Prepare and develop:
- Architectural / Structural / Interior drawings (as applicable)
- GFC (Good for Construction) drawings
- Shop drawings and detailed working drawings
- Modify and revise drawings based on site conditions, client comments, and consultant inputs.
- Ensure drawings are accurate, coordinated, and clash-free.
2. Coordination
- Coordinate with:
- Site Engineers
- Project Managers
- Consultants (Architect, Structural, MEP, etc.)
- Contractors and vendors
- Resolve design-related queries from site and provide timely clarifications.
- Attend design review meetings and technical discussions.
3. Technical Review & Compliance
- Ensure designs comply with:
- Applicable IS codes / standards
- Client specifications
- Local authority norms and project guidelines
- Check drawings for constructability, safety, and practicality.
- Review consultant / vendor drawings and provide technical comments.
4. Quantity & BOQ Support
- Assist in:
- Quantity take-offs from drawings
- BOQ preparation and revisions
- Design-based material calculations
- Support project team in design-related cost optimization and value engineering.
5. Site Support
- Provide technical support to site team during execution.
- Visit site when required to:
- Verify design implementation
- Solve execution-related design issues
- Update drawings as per actual site conditions (As-built drawings)
6. Documentation & Control
- Maintain proper records of:
- All drawings and revisions
- Design approvals
- Design change logs
- Ensure latest approved drawings are issued to site and relevant teams.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of:
- AutoCAD / Revit / other design software (as applicable)
- MS Excel, Word, and basic project documentation
- Good understanding of:
- Construction methods and materials
- Design coordination and detailing
- Ability to:
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Communicate clearly with site and consultants
- Work under deadlines and handle multiple revisions
Qualification & Experience
- B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Civil Engineering / Architecture / relevant field
- Experience:
- 2–6 years (can be adjusted as per your requirement)
- Experience in building / interior / infrastructure projects preferred
