Job Description – Field Sales Executive (Residential Rooftop Solar)
Position Overview :
The Field Sales Executive will be responsible for driving residential rooftop solar sales through on-ground customer engagement, technical site assessments, proposal explanation, and end to end customer relationship management.
This role demands strong technical knowledge of solar systems, hands-on rooftop solar experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate across sales and operations to ensure timely project completion.
The candidate must be comfortable working in the field, conducting multiple visits per day, and handling customers from first interaction to post-installation support. This role requires mandatory prior experience in residential rooftop solar and a solid understanding of solar technicalities such as system sizing, shadow analysis, basic electrical concepts, inverter selection, and subsidy processes.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Lead Handling & Customer Engagement Manage leads assigned by Inside Sales/Marketing and schedule prompt site visits. Educate customers on solar energy, system configuration, components, subsidies, ROI, and long-term benefits. Understand customer requirements, load patterns, rooftop space, and budget constraints. Build trust through technical clarity, transparent pricing explanation, and professional engagement.
2. Technical Site Survey & Assessment Conduct rooftop measurements, structural assessments, and shading analysis. Identify panel placement feasibility, inverter location, cable routing, and potential installation challenges. Capture detailed site photos and upload all information into the CRM. Assess whether the site meets safety and technical criteria for installation.
3. Sales Conversion & Proposal Presentation Present and explain proposals clearly, covering system size, components, pricing, subsidy eligibility, and payback period. Handle customer objections using technical accuracy and financial value propositions. Follow up systematically with warm and hot leads to drive closures. Achieve monthly kW-based sales targets.
4. CRM Management & Documentation Maintain detailed visit notes, follow-up reminders, closure stages, and customer requirements in the CRM. Ensure 100% CRM hygiene through timely updates. Submit daily reports on visits, pipeline, and closures.
5. Operations Coordination (Post-Closure) Handover all closed files to Operations with complete technical details and photos. Coordinate with operations teams (Survey, Installation, Documentation, Net Metering) to ensure smooth project execution. Follow up on project status to ensure timely installation and customer satisfaction. Support operations whenever technical clarifications are needed.
6. Post-Installation Support & Customer Experience Conduct follow-up calls after installation to ensure system performance and customer satisfaction. Resolve minor customer queries post-installation or route them correctly to the operations/service team. Maintain long-term relationships with customers to ensure positive brand experience. Collect testimonials and encourage satisfied customers to provide referrals.
7. Market Insights & Competitor Tracking Observe competitor pricing, offers, customer objections, and new market trends. Share weekly insights with the Sales Manager to improve pitch, pricing strategy, and market positioning. Required Skills & Qualifications Mandatory Requirements Minimum 1–2 years of experience in residential rooftop solar sales. Strong technical understanding of solar PV systems (mandatory). Ability to explain system design, inverter options, stringing basics, generation expectations, net metering, and subsidy processes. Experience conducting rooftop assessments and technical site surveys. Core Skills Excellent communication in local language + basic English/Hindi. Strong customer handling and negotiation capabilities.
- Ability to travel extensively for site visits (two-wheeler required).
- Good understanding of solar components: panels, inverters, structures, DC/AC cabling, protections, and installation workflow.
- CRM usage knowledge (Solar Ladder preferred).
