Job Summary
A Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients by assessing health conditions, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals. The role focuses on delivering safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care while maintaining professional nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients' health conditions and record medical histories.
- Monitor and document vital signs, symptoms, and patient progress.
- Administer medications, injections, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
- Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, and surgeries.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, medications, and post-discharge care.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records and nursing documentation.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide emergency nursing care when required.
- Ensure infection prevention and control protocols are followed.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, procedures, and surgeries.
- Collect blood and other specimens for laboratory testing.
- Operate and maintain medical equipment safely and effectively.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure quality patient care.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and healthcare regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and continuing education programs.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent qualification in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid nursing registration/license with the appropriate nursing council or regulatory authority.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is an added advantage.
- Relevant clinical experience is preferred; fresh graduates may apply where applicable.
