The Blending Chemist is responsible for the precise formulation, blending, and quality control of various chemical products. This role ensures that all blended materials meet strict quality specifications, regulatory requirements, and production schedules. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of chemical principles, laboratory techniques, and manufacturing processes, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to safety and quality.
- Develop, optimize, and execute blending formulations for a wide range of chemical products, ensuring consistency and adherence to product specifications.
- Operate and maintain blending equipment, including mixers, reactors, and pumps, performing routine calibration and minor troubleshooting.
- Conduct in-process and final product quality control testing using various analytical instruments (e.g., pH meters, viscometers, refractometers, spectrophotometers, HPLC, GC) to ensure product integrity.
- Accurately record and maintain detailed batch records, experimental data, and quality control results, ensuring all documentation is compliant with regulatory standards (e.g., GMP, ISO).
- Troubleshoot blending process issues, identify root causes of deviations, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate closely with Research & Development (R&D), Production, and Quality Assurance (QA) teams to facilitate smooth product transitions from lab to production scale.
- Manage and monitor raw material inventory specific to blending operations, ensuring availability and proper storage.
- Ensure strict adherence to all company safety protocols, environmental regulations, and hazardous waste management procedures.
- Participate in the investigation of customer complaints related to product quality and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for blending processes.
- Assist in the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for blending, testing, and equipment operation.
- Perform stability studies on blended products to determine shelf life and storage conditions.
