The way we work this is this person would need to be available to take on tickets from the Tax Research team for monthly compliance changes to our legacy code base that is then shared with classic cloud, VITR on demand and express returns. This work ebbs and flows throughout the month. This is required, since it has not been determined when this product will sunset and the existing contractors will roll off. When it is ebbing, the person would be available to take on express returns work.

Professional experience of at least 5 years with c /c++ and large scale projects
SQL, preferably MS-SQL programming and administration

Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server:
Administration incl. local installs for Development purposes, using multiple versions on the same machine, configuring ports and protocols, understanding user security
Ability to use SSMS for database backup/restore/testing queries/general troubleshooting of databases
Knowledge of how to profile a query for performance, how to read profiler logs
General SQL knowledge:
JOINs (all types), cartesian products
When, why and how to create/use Stored Procedures
Basic SQL functions like MIN, MAX, CASE statements, subqueries
Correct parameter handling, understanding SQL injection potential
Understanding when and how GROUP BY is used
Visual Studio environment
Ability to use debugger, profiler and other tools provided by Visual Studio to troubleshoot field issues given customer data.
Understand character encodings (Unicode vs. ASCII) at a basic level.
Explain when to use tools like a Profiler or SQL tools to find performance issues.
git proficiency
Explain what a commit is and why Pull Requests exist.
Basic understanding of what CI/CD is and why it's important.
Understanding and experience with GitHub Actions a plus
VB.NET or at least old VB and some .NET (C# for instance) experience.
