We are seeking a Design Engineer with strong expertise in SolidWorks to design Special Purpose Machines (SPM), automation equipment, fixtures, and mechanical assemblies. The candidate should be capable of developing 3D models, preparing manufacturing drawings, and supporting the complete product development process.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design and develop SPMs, fixtures, jigs, and mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Create accurate 3D part models, assemblies, and sheet metal designs.
- Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing drawings with dimensions and tolerances.
- Generate and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Select standard mechanical components such as bearings, linear guides, ball screws, motors, gearboxes, cylinders, and sensors.
- Coordinate with production, assembly, procurement, and project teams.
- Modify existing designs based on customer requirements and engineering changes.
- Support machine assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure designs comply with manufacturing standards and quality requirements.
- Maintain design documentation and revision history.
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (Part, Assembly, Drawing, Sheet Metal, Weldments).
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
- Experience in SPM machine design and industrial automation.
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of pneumatic and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork.
Preferred Skills
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Experience with PDM systems.
- Basic knowledge of motion analysis and simulation.
- Hands-on exposure to machine assembly and troubleshooting.
Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
- 0–4 years of experience in SolidWorks-based mechanical design, preferably in SPM or industrial automation.
