Role Overview
The Space Manager at BlackRock is responsible for planning, allocating, optimizing, and governing workplace space in line with business demand, workplace strategy, and global standards. The role sits within Enterprise Services and works closely with HR, FP&A, Facilities, Technology, Security, and Business Leaders to ensure effective utilization of space and a consistent employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Space Allocation & Occupancy Management
Manage desk, neighborhood, and office allocations across floors and buildings.
Maintain accurate capacity, occupancy, and headcount data.
Assign seating based on business need, availability, and approval governance.
Ensure MD approval for moves and space changes, in line with policy.
2. Space Planning & Forecasting
Receive and validate monthly and forecasted headcount data from HR and FP&A.
Analyse occupancy, desk sharing ratios, and utilization trends.
Prepare future‑state occupancy assessments to support growth, consolidation, or restacks
3. Move Management & Restacks
Coordinate space planning for: New hires (FTEs and CWKs)
Team moves and restacks
Flexible and fixed desking transitions
Partner with Enterprise Services and Technology teams to execute restacks aligned to approved plans.
Ensure move readiness and sequencing.
4. Space Management Systems & Tools
Own and manage Accordant, BlackRock’s space management system.
Maintain accurate neighbourhood, desk, and capacity data.
Support Map view / desk booking integrations for employee use.
Perform audits and validations of system data
5. Stakeholder & Business Engagement
Share space allocations, floor plans, and forecasts with Functional Leads.
Partner with leaders to determine fixed vs. shared desking needs.
Act as the primary point of contact for space‑related planning queries.
6. Governance, Compliance & Standards
Ensure space planning adheres to: Enterprise Services governance
Information barrier requirements
Flexible desking standards
Maintain audit readiness for space data and approvals.
7. Coordination & Operational Readiness
Coordinate with: IT / Deskside teams for system readiness
Security for badge access
Mailroom for onboarding kits
FM teams for signage, lockers, and site readiness
Support go‑live activities for new layouts and desk booking
Key Skills & Capabilities (explicitly reflected in materials)
Strong understanding of space planning, occupancy management, and flexible desking
Strong data validation and analytical capability for headcount and utilization
CAD Proficient
Experience with enterprise space tools
Stakeholder management across HR, FP&A, Facilities, and business teams
Governance‑driven execution and attention to compliance
