Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and technically strong SDS2 Project Manager to manage structural steel detailing projects from initial planning through final delivery. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with SDS2 software, structural steel detailing, project coordination, team management, and client communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end structural steel detailing projects using SDS2.
- Plan project schedules, deliverables, manpower, and resources to ensure timely completion.
- Lead and coordinate a team of SDS2 detailers, checkers, and modelers.
- Review project scope, structural drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
- Ensure accurate 3D modeling, detailing, fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and material lists.
- Monitor project progress and ensure deliverables meet required quality standards and deadlines.
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, fabricators, and internal teams to resolve technical issues and project-related queries.
- Review and approve drawings/models before submission to clients.
- Identify design/detailing discrepancies and coordinate necessary revisions.
- Manage RFIs, revisions, change orders, and project documentation.
- Track project milestones, productivity, quality, and overall performance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable structural steel detailing standards and client specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the detailing team.
- Conduct regular project reviews and provide status updates to management and clients.
- Ensure projects are delivered within the agreed scope, schedule, quality, and budget.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in structural steel detailing/project management.
- Strong hands-on experience with SDS2.
- Good knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection processes.
- Strong understanding of structural drawings, connection details, fabrication drawings, and erection drawings.
- Experience managing detailing teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Good knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and resource management.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and client coordination skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage project priorities effectively.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of AISC, OSHA, and other relevant standards is an advantage.
- Experience with steel buildings, industrial structures, commercial buildings, stairs, handrails, platforms, and miscellaneous steel.
- Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools.
