Position description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the SMS Mechanical Maintenance team for CCS1 Slab and Bloom Caster operations at Jindal Stainless Limited. This role demands a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise in mechanical systems within the mining and metals industry. The successful candidate will oversee maintenance planning, execution, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure optimal equipment reliability and operational efficiency. This position requires strong leadership capabilities to manage cross-functional teams, coordinate with production and engineering departments, and drive safety and quality standards in a high-demand manufacturing environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive mechanical maintenance strategies for CCS1 Slab and Bloom Caster equipment to maximize uptime and performance.
- Lead and supervise the SMS Mechanical Maintenance team, ensuring effective resource allocation, skill development, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality teams to schedule maintenance activities minimizing operational disruptions.
- Analyze equipment performance data to identify root causes of failures and implement corrective and preventive maintenance measures.
- Manage maintenance budgets, procurement of spare parts, and vendor relationships to ensure timely availability of critical components.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and predictive maintenance techniques.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and company policies related to mechanical maintenance and safety.
- Prepare detailed reports on maintenance activities, equipment status, and improvement projects for senior management review.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians to build a competent and motivated maintenance workforce.
- Lead emergency response and troubleshooting efforts during mechanical breakdowns to restore operations swiftly.
