About Homaira
Homaira is a 25-year-old premium furniture brand under Solo Design India, with in-house manufacturing. Homaira designs and builds bespoke, luxury furniture, not mass-market or catalogue-driven pieces, for discerning residential and commercial clients.
Role Summary
The Furniture Designer cum Interior Designer works across both furniture design and space design, translating client briefs into bespoke furniture pieces and, where needed, into broader interior concepts that those pieces sit within. This is a hands-on role for someone early in their career who wants to learn real, in-house furniture design and manufacturing alongside genuine interior design exposure, not a purely digital or catalogue-styling role.
Key Responsibilities
Furniture Design:
- Translate client briefs, mood boards, and reference material into original bespoke furniture design concepts
- Develop detailed technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing: dimensions, materials, joinery, finishes
- Ensure every design reflects Homaira's luxury positioning: never generic or off-the-shelf in feel
Interior & Space Design:
- Support space planning and layout concepts for residential and commercial projects, ensuring furniture pieces are designed in context, not isolation
- Develop mood boards, material palettes, and finish schemes that tie furniture design into a cohesive interior concept
- Prepare design presentations and renders that clearly communicate both furniture pieces and overall space concept to clients
Client & Project Collaboration:
- Work with the sales/client-facing team to understand space constraints, style preferences, and budget
- Incorporate client feedback into design revisions accurately and promptly
Manufacturing Coordination:
- Work closely with the production/factory team to ensure designs are feasible, buildable, and true to specification
- Visit the factory floor when required to understand real manufacturing constraints and craftsmanship techniques
- Troubleshoot design-to-production issues as they arise, adjusting drawings where needed
Material & Finish Knowledge:
- Build strong working knowledge of woods, veneers, finishes, upholstery, hardware, and surface materials used in luxury furniture and interiors
- Stay current on design trends in luxury/bespoke furniture and interior design, bringing fresh ideas to the table
What We're Looking For
- Fresher to 1 year of experience in furniture design, interior design, or product design
- Degree/diploma in Interior Design, Furniture Design, Product Design, or a related field
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, rhino, or similar design software; rendering skills (3D Max, V-Ray, or similar) a strong plus
- A genuine eye for luxury and bespoke design across both furniture and space: someone who understands the difference between "furniture" and "a piece," and "decorated" and "designed"
- Detail-oriented, with the discipline to produce accurate, production-ready drawings and presentations
Why Join Homaira
This is a rare opportunity for someone early in their design career to work across both furniture and interior design on genuinely bespoke, high-end projects, not templated or mass-produced pieces, with direct exposure to a 25-year manufacturing legacy and hands-on learning from an experienced design and production team.
