Role Purpose
The PGT English Teacher is responsible for delivering a rich, inquiry-driven, and skill-based English curriculum aligned with international standards. The role focuses on developing students’ critical thinking, global perspectives, communication skills, literary appreciation, and academic writing through experiential and learner-centered methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Delivery
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with international curriculum frameworks.
- Teach literature, language, and writing skills using discussion, debate, and inquiry-based strategies.
- Integrate global texts, multicultural literature, and contemporary themes.
- Develop reading, writing, listening, and speaking competencies.
- Prepare students for board assessments, internal assessments, and international benchmarks.
Curriculum Planning
- Design annual planners, unit plans, and lesson plans based on learning outcomes.
- Create interdisciplinary connections and real-world applications.
- Incorporate project-based learning, flipped classrooms, and differentiated instruction.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Design formative and summative assessments as per international standards.
- Use rubrics, portfolios, presentations, and reflective journals for evaluation.
- Provide constructive feedback and maintain detailed progress records.
Classroom Environment
- Create a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture.
- Encourage student voice, creativity, and independent thinking.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive discipline strategies.
Technology Integration
- Use LMS, digital tools, and multimedia resources for teaching and assessment.
- Encourage research, digital literacy, and presentation skills.
Student Development
- Mentor students for debates, elocution, MUNs, theatre, and literary clubs.
- Support students in academic writing, public speaking, and competitions.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in curriculum meetings, training, and professional development.
- Collaborate with colleagues for cross-curricular projects.
- Engage with parents through PTMs, reports, and academic counselling.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in English (MA English).
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience teaching Senior Secondary in an international or progressive school.
- Experience with Cambridge / IB / IGCSE preferred.

- Strong knowledge of world literature and language pedagogy.
- Expertise in academic writing and assessment design.

- International certification or training (IB / Cambridge workshops).
- Experience guiding students for Olympiads, MUNs, and literary fests.
