Job Purpose
The Double Edge Polishing Machine Operator is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining double edge polishing (DEP) machines used in glass processing. The role ensures that glass panels are processed to the required dimensions, edge quality, and surface finish while maintaining productivity, quality standards, and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate the Double Edge Polishing (DEP) machine as per production plans.
- Load and unload glass sheets safely using appropriate handling equipment.
- Configure machine parameters such as glass thickness, width, polishing speed, feed rate, spindle pressure, and coolant flow.
- Ensure simultaneous polishing of both glass edges to achieve the required dimensions and finish.
- Verify processed glass dimensions using measuring instruments and ensure compliance with production drawings.
- Inspect glass for edge quality, scratches, chips, corner defects, waviness, and polishing consistency.
- Monitor polishing wheel wear and replace grinding and polishing wheels as required.
- Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain coolant systems and ensure adequate coolant circulation during operation.
- Minimize glass breakage by following proper handling and machine operating procedures.
- Record production quantities, machine downtime, rejection details, and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with cutting, drilling, tempering, and quality inspection departments to ensure smooth production flow.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and customer specifications.
- Maintain workplace cleanliness in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Report machine abnormalities, equipment failures, and quality concerns to the Production Supervisor immediately.
Required Qualifications
- High School, ITI, or equivalent technical qualification.
- 1–3 years of experience operating Double Edge Polishing (DEP) machines in a glass processing industry
Pay: ₹24,000.00 - ₹28,000.00 per month
