About Score Merit:
Score Merit is an international education ecosystem serving K-12 students, teachers, and education professionals across the USA, Canada, UK, Middle East, and India — spanning student learning programs, teacher certification, and professional certification tracks. We are looking for an experienced Phonics Trainer to lead our Phonics Certification Course, delivered to teachers enrolling in the course. In addition, the trainer will support us separately with reviewing and editing our existing phonics curriculum.
Role Summary:
This is primarily a training role: the Phonics Trainer will deliver the Phonics Certification Course to enrolled, external, not-yet-certified teachers in cohort-based batches. Separately, the trainer will also assist Score Merit with reviewing and editing our existing phonics curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
Certification Course Delivery (External Teachers) — Primary Responsibility
- Design the training delivery plan and session structure for the Phonics Certification Course.
- Conduct live/recorded training sessions and webinars for external teachers enrolled through Score Merit's certification campaign.
- Create training decks, session guides, and reference material for course participants.
- Design assessments/evaluation criteria to determine successful certification of participating teachers.
- Conduct doubt-clearing sessions, Q&A, and provide personalized feedback to enrolled teachers.
- Track participant progress across cohorts/batches and report on completion and certification outcomes.
Curriculum Editing — Additional Responsibility
- Separately from training delivery, review Score Merit's existing phonics curriculum and course materials for accuracy, structure, and pedagogical soundness.
- Edit and refine existing content, worksheets, and assessments as needed.
- Recommend updates based on current phonics pedagogy (e.g., Synthetic Phonics, Structured Literacy) and regional curriculum differences (UK/US/India).
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Share curriculum edits with the Curriculum team for review and sign-off.
- Coordinate with Marketing/Operations on batch scheduling, enrollment numbers, and campaign timelines.
- Provide input on participant feedback to continuously improve the course and certification criteria.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in phonics instruction or early literacy teaching, with at least 5+ years specifically in a training/train-the-trainer capacity.
- Certification in a recognized phonics framework — Jolly Phonics, Letters and Sounds, or Orton-Gillingham (mandatory; certification proof required).
- Proven track record of training teachers/educators on phonics delivery, ideally in a certification-course or workshop format for an external/paid audience.
- Strong facilitation and adult-learning skills — comfortable running webinars, cohort-based batches, and feedback/Q&A sessions.
- Familiarity with global curriculum standards (UK National Curriculum, US Common Core / Structured Literacy; CBSE/ICSE a plus).
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field (B.Ed/TESOL/CELTA preferred).
- Experience working with EdTech platforms, webinar tools, or online certification programs preferred.
- Additionally, some prior experience reviewing or editing phonics curriculum/course content is required, as this will be a separate deliverable alongside training.
Key Skills:
- Strong command of English phonetics and phonemic awareness pedagogy. Excellent presentation, facilitation, and public speaking skills, especially for an external, paying-participant audience.
- Ability to design and run structured, scalable certification training batches/cohorts.
- Strong assessment design skills — able to set evaluation criteria for certifying participants.
- Data-driven mindset — comfortable tracking cohort progress and completion/certification outcomes.
- Strong written communication for training decks and session guides.
- Comfortable with digital tools: PowerPoint (training decks), Zoom/Google Meet (webinar delivery), LMS platforms (course hosting & certification tracking).
- Curriculum/content editing skills — able to assess and improve existing material for clarity, accuracy, and pedagogical flow (for the separate curriculum-editing deliverable).
Preferred (Good to Have):
- Prior experience designing or delivering a paid certification course/program to external teachers (not internal staff).
- Experience training teachers for an international/multi-region audience.
- Experience with LMS-based certification issuance and cohort/batch tracking.
What We Offer:
- Opportunity to shape and lead a new professional certification course within Score Merit's international education ecosystem.
- Flexible remote engagement with a global teacher audience.
- Direct collaboration with leadership on curriculum and course strategy.
Pay: ₹2,500.00 - ₹3,500.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Flexible schedule
- Work from home
