About the Role
You will handle two things: keeping the content on Weddinglane up-to-date and well-optimized, and building backlinks through outreach and blog content.
Every page on Weddinglane currently carries the old BookWedGo branding, meta titles, H1S, body copy, and image alt tags. Your first job is to fix that, page by page, while also producing new content and running an ongoing outreach pipeline.
You will work as part of a three-person SEO team, reporting to the SEO lead.
What You Will Do
Content Daily
- Refresh 1–2 pages per day and update outdated stats, venue lists, dates, and location-specific content. Every refresh must include a real change, not just a minor edit.
- Update meta titles and descriptions on 5 pages per day during Month 1. Titles: 55–60 characters. Descriptions: 150–160 characters. Primary keyword in every title.
- Update image alt tags in batches of 20 per day. No blank alt tags on any live page.
- Check rankings for the top 20 target keywords. Flag any keyword that drops 5 or more positions.
Content Weekly
- Publish 4 new city and category landing pages per week (e.g., "Wedding venues in Coimbatore"). Each page: 900+ words, a unique meta, an FAQ section, and at least 3 internal links pointing to it.
- Rewrite the H1/H2/H3 structure on 4+ pages. One H1 per page with the primary keyword. Logical subheading structure throughout.
- Add 10 internal links across the site each week. No new page should go live without at least 3 inbound internal links.
- Add 5 keyword gap opportunities to the content calendar from competitor research (WedMeGood, Shaadi.com). Minimum 500 monthly searches per keyword.
- Update SEO details for all new YouTube uploads: keywords in the title, a 200+ word description, 10 tags, and timestamps for chapters.
Content Monthly
- Audit all live pages, rate each as Green, Amber, or Red based on word count, freshness, and keyword targeting. Schedule the Red pages for a refresh the following month.
- Publish 4 seasonal content pieces aligned to the Indian wedding calendar (peak season: October–February).
- Produce a report on competitor content gaps, showing the 10 topics they rank for that we do not rank for. Present the top three to the SEO lead.
- Audit images for file size and format. Run WebP conversion for oversized images in the same month.
Backlinks Daily
- Reply to all outreach responses within 24 hours. Keep the CRM updated. No new lead should sit without an update for more than 3 days.
- Post 2 helpful answers per day on Quora India, Reddit India, or relevant Facebook wedding groups. No spam links.
- Check Ahrefs alerts for lost links. Flag the same day and begin reclamation outreach within 48 hours.
Backlinks Weekly
- Publish 2 long-form blog posts (minimum 1,500 words each). Target keyword in title, H1, and first paragraph. At least 3 internal links, meta sets, and image alt tags are complete.
- Send 3 personalized outreach emails for guest posts, broken link replacements, or co-marketing. DA 25+ sites only. Log everything in the CRM.
- Send 5 co-marketing emails to vendors listed on Weddinglane (photographers, decorators, and caterers) to request a backlink.
- Find 5 broken links on Indian wedding blogs and send a replacement pitch with a relevant Weddinglane page.
Backlinks Monthly
- Secure 2 guest post placements on DA 30+ wedding media (ShaadiSaga, Maharani Weddings, Wedding Bazaar, Femina, and HT Bridal). Each should include a dofollow link to a relevant inner page.
- Run a full backlink audit via Ahrefs. Identify toxic links and add to the disavow file. Track net new referring domains month-on-month.
- Reclaim backlinks from the old BookWedGo domain by emailing the web admins and asking them to update the URL. Target: 60%+ reclaimed by Month 2.
- Send 3 PR pitches to DA 40+ publications. Aim for at least 1 placement per month.
- Run a competitor backlink gap analysis and identify 5 sites linking to WedMeGood but not to Wedding Lane. Add to next month's outreach list.
What We Are Looking For
- 1–2 years of experience in content SEO and link building, preferably from a digital agency or startup.
- Can write clearly and quickly, so no need for multiple rounds of feedback to get a page right.
- Treats outreach as relationship-building, personalizes every email, and researches the site before pitching.
- Understands the Indian wedding search market and knows the difference between how someone searches for a wedding venue in Chennai vs Madurai.
- Uses AI tools daily (Claude, ChatGPT, and SurferSEO) to work on faster content briefs, meta rewrites, and outreach drafts.
- Comfortable managing two ongoing workstreams (content and outreach) simultaneously without dropping either.
